Twins Elvis Aaron (Aron) and Jesse Garon Presley were born on January 8th, 1935 in East Tupelo. Unfortunately, Jesse Garon Presley was still born.

On October 3rd, 1945 Elvis made his first public appearance. He entered a singing contest at the Mississippi-Alabama Fair and Dairy Show and placed fifth.

Dick York


Richard Allen “Dick” York was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on September 4th, 1928.

His career began on the CBS radio program “That Brewster Boy” at age 15.

He was best known for his role as “Darrin Stephens” in the TV series “Bewitched” which he received an Emmy nomination for in 1968.

Les Paul

Les Paul was born Lester William Polsfuss on June 9th, 1915 in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

At age 8 he became interested in music and began to play the harmonica. He later attempted the Banjo but settled on the guitar. This led him to invent the neck-worn harmonica holder so that he could play the harmonica and accompany himself on the guitar. His original design is still used to manufacture the device.

He was performing semi-professional by the age of 13 as a country music singer, guitarist and harmonica player. At seventeen he dropped out of high school to join Wolverton’s Radio Band in St. Louis, Missouri.

William Butler Yeats


William Butler Yeats was born in Dublin on the 13th of June 1865. His father, John, was a well known Irish painter.

Though his family moved to London when he was two years old he spent much of his childhood in Sligo with his grandparents.

This upbringing in Sligo formed the setting for many of his poems in later life.

Yeat’s writing drew from Irish mythology and folklore.

Eunice Kennedy Shriver

Eunice Kennedy Shriver was born on July 10th, 1921 in Brookline, Massachusetts.

She graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology in 1943. She worked with the U.S. State Department in the Special War Problems Division and the U.S. Justice Department as an executive secretary for a project that dealt with juvenile delinquency.
